Dr Darren Paterson has an appointment as a VMO Orthopaedic Surgeon with the Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals and also operates at Armidale Private Hospital.

Darren was born and raised on Sydneys northern beaches. He completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Sydney. Darren trained in Orthopaedic Surgery through the Australian Orthopaedic Association training program in Sydney Northside program. He obtained his fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005. 

Following his specialist training, Darren gained international subspecialty experience in Primary and revision Hip Arthroplasty surgery at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre, Exeter, Devon, UK. This unit developed the Exeter hip replacement, which is the most widely used hip replacement in use in Australia at this time. This was followed by a Harvard Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
